Clean Eating Turkey Burgers



Ingredients


16oz 97/3 Lean ground turkey breast
1 medium yellow onion, half diced, half sliced
1 Tbsp EVOO
1/3 cup oat flour or old fashioned oats
10 drops Worchestershire sauce
1 tbsp Hot Sauce (I used Franks)
1 tsp red pepper flakes
1/4 tsp salt
1/4 tsp black pepper
1tsp minced garlic
1-1/2 tsp Mesquite Liquid Smoke (or Jack Daniels BBQ sauce)
1 whole egg
Iceberg lettuce or other large lettuce leaves


Preparation

  1. Pre-heat oven to 375 degrees F (if cooking patties indoors)
  2. Combine Turkey, diced onions and next 9 ingredients (up to the egg) in a large bowl.  Leave sliced onions and lettuce to the side.  
  3. Mix thoroughly and form into 4 patties
  4.  Grill as normal over the BBQ or if cooking inside grill until lightly browned on both sides then put in the oven for 10 minutes or until cooked through
  5. While burgers are cooking, heat EVOO in a pan over medium heat, sautee onions until slightly browned
  6. Top with sauteed onions and wrap in lettuce leaf








I served these with Sweet and Crispy Sweet Potato Fries.
